Bullying in Social Media

Social Media’s quick growth to a staple of many people lives is strange because it happened almost without anybody noticing. From Facebook and MySpace to Twitter and Instagram and that’s only mentioning four platforms, Social Media is so common within our lives right now that the  problem of Social Media bullying was sadly always likely to happen.

What I mean by that is that the risk of bullying can happen in many places, school and work simply being two of its form. Bullying in Social Media is the same but due to social media reach, it can in many ways be a lot more harmful.

Social Media can allow people become anonymous so in a lot of situations you can bully user with no danger of punishment. The anonymous nature of Social Media unfortunately appears to have given people who wouldn’t ordinarily bully anyone the freedom to behave their aggression out to strangers online.

The more dangerous aspect to Social Media bullying is it can very quickly be found in combination with regular bullying. Somebody being bullied at school could now be bullied away through the classroom in his home 24/7.

Social Media bullying is also complicated to quit, while clicking the block button effortless enough, frequently it will only gain you a temporary reprieve from bullying. This is due to your proven fact that making another account is quite easy and there’s no genuine way for the sites to end user from creating more accounts.

Bullying in Social Media is a difficult issue to tackle, because of the many variations off it. If your being bullied online by somebody you understand then which could be manageable however in some cases people can find themselves being targeted by other users who live hundreds of kilometres away and tackling Social Media bullying like that is all together more complicated.
Even though schools and local police will have a way to aid with Social Media bullying, in some cases, the sad truth of it that sometimes the only path to get yourself away from this kind of bullying is to shut down your account.

A study in 2012 found that 80% of people between twelve and seventeen years old have actually witnessed bullying through Social Media and I find it a lot more than likely that figure will up have gone not down if that survey was taken once again in 2015.
